Experiment "Acustics in Turbomachinery"

Overview:

Within the scope of the experiment "Acoustics in Turbomachinery" the propagation behaviour of sound fields in pipe and ring channels is experimentally investigated. For this purpose, synthetic sound fields are excited at the Aeroacoustic Wind Tunnel (AWT) of the Institute of Turbomachinery and Fluid Dynamics with the aid of a loudspeaker array. These sound fields simulate the noise generated by the interactions of rotating and stationary components in turbomachinery. The sound fields are measured with the help of flush instrumented microphones and evaluated after the experiments. For the test, several acoustic modes are excited and evaluated in small groups.

Follow-up:

  • Preparation of a protocol from which the procedure and the results of the experiment can be deduced and discussed.

 

Note:

Since the test takes place in the test field of the TFD, safety shoes must be worn. It is therefore advisable to bring your own safety shoes with you to carry out the test - but these can also be borrowed from the Institute. Hearing protection is provided by the institute.
