Description

The Institute of Turbomachinery and Fluid Dynamics carries out extensive experimental studies on different types of turbomachines. Pneumatic and temperature probes are used for most studies. To use these probes, it is necessary to regularly calibrate them in an open-jet wind tunnel with a known flow field and detailed knowledge of the position of the probe within the flow field. The high-speed calibration channel allows the calibration of pneumatic probes in a range of Mach numbers from 0.3 to 0.9 and for temperature probes in a temperature range from 30 °C to 90 °C. The positioning of the probe, the temperature and the Mach number are controlled via one computer/interface. Due to the compact set-up, it is possible to calibrate probes quickly and at low costs. In order to increase the accuracy of the yaw angle measurements, the probes can also be calibrated in conjunction with a probe-adjusting device of the original experimental set-up.
