Research Projects

Design and simulation of an electrically driven compressor to support an exhaust gas turbocharger for turbocharging a hydrogen combustion engine

A hydrogen combustion engine requires a high air ratio and high boost pressure for efficient, low-emission operation. This is not possible for all operating points with the use of a single-stage exhaust gas turbocharger. The aim of the research project is therefore to design and simulate an electrically driven compressor to support an exhaust gas turbocharger for charging the engine. Since the electric compressor represents an additional energy consumer, it must achieve the highest possible efficiency.
