Would you like to gain insights into turbomachinery, manufacturing, or IT? The TFD and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering offer internships for high school students and year-long internships. Apply now and get a hands-on start to your professional career.

What you should know

Deadline: Please send us your application at least 4 weeks before your desired start date.
Still undecided? You are welcome to arrange a 30–60-minute introductory meeting outside of school hours. Simply send us a short email with your available dates.

Internships in the technical field

Overview & duration

  • Formats: Year-long internship (workshop/production) or student internship lasting several weeks

  • Duration: Year-long internship usually lasts 12 months, student internship lasts several weeks (by arrangement)

  • Target group: Students with an interest in manufacturing, technology, and practical work

Contents & learning objectives

  • Working on modern production machines (e.g., CNC lathes, CNC milling machines)

  • Design & drawings (also on the PC)

  • Practical qualifications under the guidance of experienced trainers

Internships in the IT department

Overview & duration

  • Framework: Cooperation in the “IT macht Schule” project (Technology Centers Lower Saxony e. V.)

  • Duration: 14 days

  • Target group: Students interested in IT, systems, and support

Contents & learning objectives

  • Working with Microsoft Windows (various versions) and Linux

  • HelpDesk insights: Support for employees and students

  • Procurement and contracting: Basics for new purchases

  • Server operation at the Garbsen Mechanical Engineering Campus (including rack-based gas extinguishing system and water cooling for the racks)

  • Insights into measurement data acquisition in supervised institutes (e.g., turbines, turbochargers, wind turbines)
