Process Technology

Experiment I "Compression Refrigeration Cycle"

Institute for Thermodynamics [IfT]

Overview - Experiment I

Purpose of this laboratory is to get acquainted with the thermodynamic principle, function and operation, as well as the process components and measuring system of a compression refrigeration cycle. The laboratory includes the study of various operating conditions. The temperatures, pressures and volume flow rate of the refrigerant measured in the experiment are used to determine the thermodynamic state variables of the refrigerant in operation, the energy balance and the efficiency of the process.

EXECUTION

  • Preliminary test and briefing
  • Execution of the experiment

Follow-up

Evaluation and discussion of the measured values

Experiment II "Stirling Micro Power Plant"

Institute for Thermodynamics  [IfT]

Overview - Experiment II

Purpose of the laboratory is to familiarize with the thermodynamic principles of energy conversion, the structure as well as the operation of a Stirling micro power plant. The lab includes operating the plant and studying an operating condition. The temperatures, flow rates and electrical power read from the plant will be used to determine heat flows, energy balance and efficiency.

Execution

  • Pre-testing and discussion of the experiment
  • Experiment execution

Follow-Up

Evaluation and discussion of the measured values
