Activities

  • Experimental Aeroacoustics

Research Projects

  • Noise transport in low pressure turbines

As a result of the growing air traffic worldwide, noise pollution has become an increasingly important factor in the design of aircraft engines. To minimize the environmental exposure to noise, detailed insight into the noise transport in the last stages of engines is required. To this end, experimental data is collected at the aeroacoustic windtunel (AWT) for which a defined sound field is induced in a bladed duct. Measurement of reflection and transmission is used to validate models which can be used to estimate the sound transport in aircraft engines during development.
