Key areas
The TFD combines basic research and applied development in the fields of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and turbomachinery technology. A particular focus is placed on aerodynamics, acoustics, numerical simulation (CFD/CAA), and the further development of energy-efficient drive and cooling systems.
Resources
The institute employs around 50 scientific, technical, and administrative staff, as well as numerous students. Modern test facilities, test benches, and high-performance computers with over 6 PFlop/s computing power are available for research and teaching.
Responsibility
The TFD is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and is committed to the highest quality standards in research, teaching, and development. In addition to scientific excellence, the institute attaches great importance to social responsibility, sustainability, and the transfer of its research to industry and society.
