The TFD has access to powerful computing resources for numerical simulations and data-intensive calculations. These are provided by the North German Cluster for High-Performance Computing (HLRN), the IT Services department at Leibniz University Hannover, and the Institute for Turbomachinery and Fluid Dynamics itself.

Computing cluster

HLRN IV cluster

For example, NHR-NORD@Göttingen with Emmy and Grete or NHR@ZIB Berlin with Lise

  • Rank (TOP500, 06/2025): #219 Emmy, #226 Grete, #215 Lise
  • Cores: Emmy approx. 111.000; Grete approx. 6.800; Lise approx. 126.000
  • RAM: Emmy approx. 478 TB; Grete approx. 50 TB + 27 TB GPU-VRAM; Lise approx. 640 TB
  • GPU-Nodes: Grete 100+ Nodes (A100/V100); Lise approx. 50 Nodes (A100/Intel PVC)
  • Note: Through NHR-NORD, we have access to all national high-performance data centers in the NHR network.

RRZN cluster

Operated by the IT Services of Leibniz University Hannover

  • Cores: approx. 7.200
  • RAM: approx. 46 TB
  • GPU nodes: 8 GPU nodes

Campus cluster (TFD)

TFD's own cluster

  • Cores: 3.024
  • RAM: approx. 25 TB
  • GPU nodes: 2 × NVIDIA Ampere A40
